Thanked: 2Lurker comes in from the Cold
Hello everyone!
I’ve pretty much been a lurker here for the past ½ year. I’ve really learned a lot from watching this forum & thought that it was time to become an active member.
I’ve a few SEs and DEs, but my two favorites are a G. Worthington True Blue and Gillette Slim Model 1964, in that order. I like the former as there is a family tie as well as the crisp shearing sound it makes along with the cool gun bluing which keeps it looking new even though it's a century old.
The Slim Adjustable is the first model I remember my father using (and it's no coincidence that it's the razor featured in Goldfinger, which captured my imagination as a cold-war era child).
I’ve been shaving with both for SEs and DEs for more than 20 years. I’ve tried just about everything one could imagine re shaving and these are the two that work the best for me. I’ve got that combo of a thick Nordic beard with a face that still gets ingrown hairs and bumps long after my teens.
Right now, I think I've found a pretty good regimen for my skin and hair type, though I'm always trying new lathers/creams/oils and will definitely be seeking the advice of the community on that front!
I’ve posted my first query here; really interested in what makes a great cream so great: http://straightrazorpalace.com/soaps...y-physics.html
Full disclosure: As a trained engineer, compulsive tinkerer, and lover of quality shaving, I've been working on something that I hope to be able to share with the community soon for feedback, as this is the most experienced and helpful shaving group I know!
Very much looking forward to getting more involved in the community!
Thanks.

Thanked: 485Welcome. You lurked for half a year?!? How did you do it? I lasted about a day before I had to join and blurt out my normally stupid comments!
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 983Everyone else calls them 'abnormally stupid', but Carl's not one to argue minor inconsistencies of thought ...Just jokes Carl. You know I don't mean it!

Thanked: 2That's just it, I have joined other clubs (that's really what this is in my mind) in my younger dayz and made a fool of myself in front of the masters. So, as a good grasshopper, i have learnt to keep a low profile until I am at least conversant and can perhaps can contribute.
