    Default Any Masons Here?

I am new to both this form and straight razors and wanted to extend my hand to any fellow Masons who might be here. I am planning to start building my shaving kit slowly and would love to add as many Masonic items as possiable as I go. Can any of you point me in the direction to find quality shaving supplies, and razors, of Masonic orgin or with our markings? Thank you in advance for your help and advice, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to SRP from a non-mason. I can't really point you in a specific direction, but razors with masonic symbols do show up for auction on the bay from time to time. Spend some time here learning what to look for in a razor, as well as brands to avoid-they're in the library, that way you can make informed purchases and avoid low quality knock-offs.

I've been interested in finding out more about the Masons. I inherited a gold ring from my great grandad with the number 33 embossed on it. Apparently he was in the 33rd order of the Masons (?) back in 1940.
    (Does that make sense?).
If anyone can explain that one to me, I'd really appreciate it.

that means he was the 33rd degree Mason. it's the highest honor bestowed upon a Mason you must be invited to that group. it does not mean he is higher than the rest of us because 3rd degree is the highest that you can get to but there are higher levels that can also be attained. being a 33rd degree Mason is a great honor most of our US presidents are 33rd degree Masons, those that were in free masonry anyway. like I said you must be invited by the High Council. it's a very big deal! your grandfather must have been a big shot of some kind!

Anthogia, thank you for your greeting.

    Raulski,
The ring signafies the 33rd degeree which is an honor given to very few Scottish Rite Masons, if your gread grandad was a 33rd degree he was among a distinguished group of men!

to continue you can be a Mason from 1 to 32 anyone just by going to the classes and seeing the rituals. but to be a 33rd degree Mason it's an honor that has to be bestowed on you by the High Council throughout the country. you must have done something good to advanced masonry or something else in this country to be a 33rd degree Mason. that's really all I can talk about but you can find most of this information on the web. in other words you cant just pay your dues and buy your way into a 33rd degree Masonry chair!

The 3rd as of now. I was going through the chairs and about to enter the Chapter and Council when my ex asked for a divorce, now 2 years later I am returning to my work. I am also a Shriner.
