    Default Hello All

Well after years of shaving with a TOBS super badge brush, there Sandelwood shaving cream and a cartridge razor i've decided after doing a load of research, to do a proper job and use a Straight. So waiting for me at home having been delivered by the postman whilst at work today is a Dovo Olive Wood Razor. I would have liked a Dovo Prima Silver Steel or Dovo En Vouge but no one in the UK has stock of either. Do they not make many?

Any who just wanted to say hi.

    James,
I'm right with you, about to take the plunge into the world of SR shaving. I also picked up a Dovo with Cocobolo wood scales. Hopefully I can arrive home after a long 13 hour day of work to find my strop, soap and norton 4000/8000 waiting for me in the mailbox. Those are the only thing I've been waiting for before I start to shave. Dont get me wrong i thought about just using it right out of the box as im very impatient, but after several tips and education on this site i have forced myself to wait till i have all the proper tools so i dont cut my face off and also dont ruin the blade. OK OK ill probably still cut part of my face off but at least ill have the strop to take care of the blade daily.
have a great day, good luck

Hi Guys and thanks for the welcome this site seems great.

Christian, i know what you mean about trying to be patient. HAHAHA.
The site i bought it of said I was shave ready but after a look around here and taking to the company I got it from it actually shouldn't need a hone but will need a good strop. So there is a stop and totally non abrasive paste in the over night post to me.

    IVOCOJ1,
Its torture, i want to use the blade so badly, its so shiny and beautiful, every morning it calls to me saying shave with me, give me a shot, just one side of your face wont hurt anything. But then i have to control myself and say patience is a virtue. But patience sucks, why shouldnt i learn the hard way? So like you ill just have to hope everything comes in soon and i start my SR shaving experience the right way. Till then ill keep enjoying this site, learning and sucking up all the knowledge and experiences from everyone on here. TONS AND TONS of both, knowledge and experience, and of course those that have done it the hard way and can share their painful experiences. My favorite is the pieces of work be it strops, hanging or paddles, brushes razors etc etc that people make with their own creativity and my favorite is their determination.

Well the Dovo was sitting there when i got home and is as lovely as i'd hoped when i got it out of the box. The box also contained 2 surprises, 2 trial pots of shaving cream. One Trumpers almond oil cream and one Proraso green tube shaving cream. Both of which were on my list of ones to try. So i'm excited now for when my strop is delivered today.
