    'Hamburg ring' may be due to the sound an extra hollow ground blade makes, or it may have something to do with these razors first being shipped out from Hamburg (but made in Solingen) to other parts of the world.

    Glad to hear I'm in the home of good shaving soap! I'll check it out....

    I've just done a quick'n'dirty polish and de-rust on the Singing ERN, and realised the scales are 6 or 7mm too short, so the only way it'll close is with the tip between the spacer and a scale.

    That's fine, as I wanted to change the scales.

    Once the blade is separated from the scales I'll re-polish it properly.

    Here's the ERN as it is now. It was very matt grey after just a couple of hours in the vinegar, so it was a relief to see how well it came up with a polish.
