    Default What a fantastic community!

Hey everybody, I am totally hooked on this website and straight razor shaving. I really like everything about the process and skills it takes to shave with a weapon! I am also interested in bringing back razors that have been around for hundreds of years. I want to restore as many of these old beauties as possible, and pass them on to the next generation.

My day job is restoring classic cars and trucks, more specifically I do the fabrication to repair and modify these vehicles. I have worked on cars from every era from the 30's to the early 80's. I work on late model vehicles too but I don't prefer it.

My job has given me a great respect for all things vintage. I really respect the old ways and I really like things that are beautiful and functional.

I have read almost every article and sticky on this forum and have started applying that knowledge. I have already purchase a razor from one of the members in the classifieds as my shaving razor.

I have 4 more razors on the way for restoration....

Can't wait to share them with you guys and Thanks for putting together such a great community.

Welcome to SRP - sounds like you'll fit right in.

Good luck with your restores when they arrive, and please remember two things:

    1) if you have any questions, ask away!
    2) we like pics!!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

A very slippery slope indeed, if it were hard drugs I would need rehab already!

    Double,
Welcome to SRP! I have a love for vintage razors and rides myself. Just got the garage cleared and staged to begin a rebuild of the 302 in my avatar.

I haven't done any serious restoration work on razors yet (did the work on my truck with my dad and grandfather), just rust removal, polishing, and honing. But that first shave with a redeemed razor is like that first test ride of a restored car.

    Happy shaving!

    Peace,
    Jim

    Thanks Jim.

I am north of Charlotte NC, Near Mooresville. Right in the heart of Nascar country. I just did my first test shave and I can already tell that I am going to like it better than the 4 blade. I did a side by side (right cheek with straight, left cheek with a new 4 blade)

It feels good, I can't wait til I can throw the fusion away and never pay for that junk again. One step at a time tho.

That truck looks great! My personal ride is a 1965 chevy biscayne with a big block and an 871 blower. It is a work in progress but it is coming together nicely.

I'm a lot better at metal than I am with wood, so I may try building a few scales out of aluminum or maybe do some cool stuff with metal inlays.

My brain is always running with ideas.
