Thread: Newbie from PA

Hi I'd like to introduce myself. I'm eagerly awaiting my first true straight (a dovo 5/8). I have been using a cheaper quality shavette for a few weeks and love the feel of using it but I want to get a closer shave.

I have always appreciated the art of straight shaving so now at 30 I feel like finally becoming a big boy.

I've been lurking the forums for about 2 weeks and have learned a lot from all of you guys.

I'm new myself and belong to a couple of shaving forums but so far this one is my favorite. I've been a DE shaver for 3 or 4 years and looking to add straights to my rotation. I just recently recieved a Dovo 6/8 probably similar to yours and don't even have a strop yet. I occasionally use a feather shavette but have found it gives kind of gnarly results. Probably bad technique on my part. I've been reading that regular straights are much smoother.
Have fun diving into straights and it'll be interesting to see how you progress!

DOvo.. Good choice... When you get it and shave with it I'm sure you will be hooked!! And you will probably find yourself looking for more razors... There addiciting lol

I'm in NEPA about 20 min south of Wilkes Barre.

I bought a dovo and strop set based on what I read here and price. Always like to make an informed decision. Didn't want to buy junk for my first.
