    Hi Guys / Bore da

New member here for Wales in the UK. I am completely new to straight razor shaving. Just bought my first straight razor and I am dreading the first shave any tips would be great.

I am looking for a good strop so any recommendations would be good. Unaided I will just end up buying the most expensive.

    Thanks for any help
    Alex

    Hi, welcome aboard!

Have you read First_straight_razor_shave yet? That's a good place to start and there's tons of other stuff in the library.

I'd emphasise the bit about not trying to do your whole face on the first go - some bits like the chin and neck are tricky, and you should stop if you start to feel uncomfortable/out-of-ypur-depth. Getting used to holding the razor is the first step.

Also, don't be worried - you may well nick yourself a little (have a styptic handy), but the chances of doing yourself a serious injury are minimal. That's what I was scared of when I started, but I think it's massively unlikely, even for beginners. Unless you have a bottle of whisky first (don't do that! )

    Enjoy!
