I've only had the one cut so far, and it was from the toe. I grazed it across the tragus. I didn't even feel it, but I knew it was cut. It bled slightly a few minutes later. That was on my second shave. Today I had my third shave. I did a cold water shave, as it sounded kind of refreshing. To be honest, I see little to no difference with the cold water shave, so I think I'll stick with the relaxing pampering I give myself with my hot water shaves. I have to admit though, building your lather on your face seems to be much easier and faster than using a shaving mug. I actually think I prefer this greatly. I did make some noticeable progress today. I've considerably improved my stropping method and feel much more comfortable that I'm not dulling my razor, though I did make a tiny fillet on my strop today. 2mm squared, maybe .002" deep fillet. Only thing noticeable about it is the color difference, it didn't add any texturing to the surface. I also determined the best angle for the blade to get a clean smooth shave on my face. I also experimented with a few different ways to hold the blade while shaving, which was a resounding success. I also found that I was applying too much pressure during my shave, so that is also now corrected. I did end up with some razor burn on my lower neck again and a bit under the chin due to experimenting with different angles and holds. I'll have to tone it down and just wait till the next shave to work on other ideas. I think my new found light-handedness will do a lot of improve things next time though. Thanks again guys for the tips, definitely helped. I also did catch myself right before I did exactly what WhiskerHarvest cautioned. I nearly gave myself quite a nice cut right in the middle of my neck. Caught it before it actually sliced though and brought the blade off my skin. Cheers! Happy shaving!

Well I thought I'd give an update. Had about five more shaves since my last post. I've progressed quite a lot. Two shaves ago I was going down from my sideburn to my jawline and wasn't sure what was going on because it felt like I didn't even touch the blade to my face and was just taking the shaving cream off my face. I had to actually go back and feel my face to see if I took any hair off with the razor. Smoothest closest shave I've ever had. It was absolutely amazing. Like a cloud just ran across my cheek and made me BBS. I'd never go back to shaving with a cartridge or electric razor. (Not that I ever enjoyed them anyway). I've also developed a better grip on my razor for working over my neck. I'm now able to get a pretty close shave on the left hand side of my neck, but still working out a good way to attack the right half of my neck. Chin is still difficult as well, but it's a decently close shave now as well. Anyhow, over all I feel I'm improving quite rapidly and it's certainly coming along. I also tried cold shaving as many people claim it is a closer shave. It was actually my worst shave so far. Razor burn to the max and not any closer than my nice relaxing hot shaves. I will be sticking to my relaxation and pampering of hot shaving. Cheers! Happy shaving!

It's all about what works for you Dye. Cold shaves suit me, and I daresay some of the angles I use would suit me far better than you too. So long as you're getting ahead, that's the main thing.

    Welcome to SRP.
If you know that the razor is sharp then watch your technique. I had a sharp razor but was getting razor burn an not the smoothest shave. On the advice of a member here I adjusted the pressure to hardly any, the angle of the blade, I was close to 50-60 degrees, last thing I wasn't pulling my skin enough, this I think makes a big difference.

    Good Luck

It sounds like you are finding your groove with your razor. My chin is still a difficult place to shave but I have found short passes on stretched skin to work quite well. Just stay consistent and fight the urge to get a new razor. I made the mistake of buying and trying several before I had a good shaving foundation and the results were aggravating. If you like hot shaves try heating your scuttle with hot water prior to building a lather and setting it in a tub of hot water to keep lather warmwhile you shave. You won't be disappointed! Best regards.

I shave because I want to, not because I have to!
