    Default Hello from PA/NJ ... been here a bit.. but firs time saying hello to all..{i think

    hey i jump on and off SRP lots but havent quite jumped in yet. i use straights but of course collect way more then i need.some do,some dont.i dont judge.

    anyway POCKET KNIVES are normally my thing.BUT THE RAZOR BUG IS BACK!!!!

    also i will put out their now im a huge fan of PA/NJ made anything...or old hardware NJ/PA imports... i also love the smaller things that make razors the little extra special..FULL MOP SCALES!{only own one,to me even one was very lucky"..i like mop tangs,,ENGLISH MONSTER 1 INCH BLADES!.. almost any natural material handle{stag on a razor normally looks bad IMO unless very very worn...} one of my favorites with any piece of steel,razor or pocket knife is not just a blade etching but a nice deep blade stamp.

    ALL IN ALL..my favorite thing about steel in general from butcher knives,pocket to straights are the FOLKS,THE HISTORY and the just plain fun i get to have pushing 40!!

    oh another thing about me ..which from reading pts i can tell alot feel the same.i love pieces wth history tied to them...not just stories but family pieces found or knives that dad gave ya!...LOVE IT...i also write and study about different cutlery firms all the time...i like to READ THEN COLLECT. my list for razors just in PA i think is over 200 makers/jobbers alone!!!! anybody want my list let me know!!!!...its a nice piece of information started by one man and keeps getting added to! {ALL PA RAZORS and would love to add another to its list that isnt their yet!!!}

    im from NJ/PA. currently staying in NJ. 08094 is the ZIP if you wanna GOOGLE me up. oh and i am a CTP{certfied trash picker}....you should see all the "garbage" folks dump outta 80-90 yr old philly homes onto the street to fill their houses with 'new" GARBAGE. {ok ramblin,i do that}

    ANYWAY AGAIN THANKS FOR HAVING ME.. up till now{lol}...forgive my lateness in saying HI!

    HOPE I CAN HELP WHIILE IM HERE!!!

    EDIT- i just looked at my join date...i gotta get more active!..sorry folks...LOL!

    thanx for the welcome!! with all the piece i own and collect i try my very hardest to keep their story with them. even if it means starting its story. by that i mean if i buy a FIRST OWNED piece from a collector who is known for being a trustworthy seller and has great pieces.i will simply ask that seller/friend to add a note or something simple to the piece or pieces explaining where and when he got it.sometimes im get lucky and the sellers already have this...then when it gets to me i make sure to ad along with it my personal time,money spent ectect...creating some history for the piece.

    i guess very simply put.pieces already come with their story lots of times and if they dont the history of the piece can simply start with you. lots im sure also already do this. i dont really LOG thigs as i dont have one book dedicated.but almost alll my pieces of cutlery have at least a biz card with it or a simple note...ectect from where i got it.
