Default Making my forst steps towards a straight razor - greetings!

Hello, I've been DE shaving for over a year now and am feeling very confident in that field. I've been gravitating towards aggressive open comb DE razors because of the feel of the blade edge on my skin. This has led me to want to try a straight razor shave. I am not new to wet shaving, just the straights. I do not yet own a straight razor, but am working with Larry at Whipped Dog to acquire one along with a strop kit. I am pretty nervous about it, but as a hobbyist knife maker very excited about acquiring what amounts to a very special "knife". I'd like to say thanks to the people responsible for this resource. I have been active on other wet shaving forums (is it okay to mention them by name?) and think these places are invaluable for learning and enjoying the shaving experience. As I said, I am not new to wet shaving, so am set up with brushes, soaps, alum, witch hazel, etc. I have also been getting very consistent comfortable BBS shaves from my DE equipment and have pretty much narrowed down to what I like in a shave and what I do not. I am really looking forward to embarking on this adventure and hope to be a valuable contributor and participant on this forum.

Thanks again for this resource. Now to some learning...
