Thanked: 2Another new guy from Canada....eh
Hi Guys,
Been hanging around this site for a while now, thought it was time to introduce myself.
My names Matt, i'm an Aussie living in Northern British Columbia.
I Have been using a straight for about a year now.
When i was 16/17 i was working in an upholstery shop doing antique restoration, and stripping furniture i found 2 old straights, i have had them in a box in Australia for almost 20 years until i went back last year and looking through my stuff i found them.
The rest is history, i got a strop and stones and went at it.......
I went into it as having a bit of fun, and the thought of taking that edge to my face was exciting...but i think it has been turned into an obsession. i cant go past an antique or collectible store without going in to look around.
Thanks SRP for all the info and help you have given everyone getting into this
Hopefully someday i can pass my knowledge on (actually my daughter wants to use a straight for her legs.....and my son has picked out his first razor from my collection) They are 9 & 11. i have a few years before i need to teach them.
this ended up longer than i expected.
thanks again
Matt

Welcome Matt! It sounds like you're going to fit in just fine in these parts. It's a very welcoming place that generally thinks it strange *not* to go digging in antique stores, etc., for razors. And brushes. And strops...
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
