    Default Happy Easter from Arizona

    Hello,
After about a month of research, I have just ordered my first straight razor, a Torrey 6/8 full hollow. I'm looking forward to learning a new craft and can't wait for the package to arrive.
Thank you Straight Razor Place and members, you have made my research much easier than anticipated and thank you members for your helpful insight!
    Happy Shaving,
    Trevor

Welcome to the forum and to straight razor shaving
A Torrey, Wow what a incredible first razor that is. You will really dig that blade. Take you time with this artform, patience is the key to success. Every shave you get thru will give you confidence and a skill-set that will propel you to a full blown obsession.
Good luck & once again welcome

welcome, i lived in Arizona for a while a few years back (to warm for my blood). awesome choice for a first razor, my Torrey is one of my best shavers. Be sure to get a strop if you haven't already, plus soap and a brush. Hope you enjoy the fine art of shaving

Soap, brush check...Strop, right, I'm looking, linen, cow, fancy cow, sealskin, etc...any advice on a first strop? Not a cheap piece of junk, but something of quality?

Welcome to this great hobby. I just moved to the Mesa/Chandler area about a year ago and love Arizona weather.. especially since I was getting tired of the snow in Michigan. I have a big daddy strop that I picked up after I found that the box I packed my strop in for the move was sent to Goodwill instead of Arizona. It has been a very nice strop and I believe I paid 40 or 50 bucks, it is a solid beginning strop that will last you years.

Edit: Also if you decide you are looking for a different soap after a bit check out Mamma Bears Soaps ICE line. It helps to keep your face cool in this lovely AZ heat.

    Welcome!

I'm from the Phoenix area and just started recently, as well.

I've been using a SRD paddle strop and have been liking it quite a bit.
