Thanked: 1Oh geeze. Another newb!
Hello all!
I'm Dave.
35. Engineer. Travel a LOT for work. (driving all over the midwest.)
I've been curious about the whole "straight-razor shaving thing" for quite some time, but I'll hang my head and admit that it came up again because of "the scene" in the latest Bond Flick.
However, since then, I feel like I've gotten started on the right track. Picked up a Dovo BQ kit from Lynn & Don @ SRD. Read a LOT here (thank you ALL!) Watched Lynn's DVD and the youtube vids he's posted MANY times.
I'm happy to say I've been shaving with my snazzy new straight blade for about 3 weeks and haven't managed to remove anything vital.
I think I'm in trouble, though. I picked up a nice TI on Thursday and made my first foray into honing this morning. (I already have a LOT of high quality gear from my knife addiction.) I shaved with the blade in question and got a VERY close shave, if I do say so.
All-in-all, I'm a convert, and would like to thank Lynn & Don, the SRD crew, and the rest of you folks here for all the wonderful info and helping me get started right.
Cheers!
Dave

Hi Dave,
Welcome to SRP. Don't apologize for being a "newb" (I really hate that term anyway!) Every member on here began with their first post. It's just the first step on an enjoyable journey that allows you to draw on the experience and expertise of all your fellow shavers and to eventually share what you have learned with others. Have a good trip!
Regards - Walt
