Hi and welcome. The better question is where are you buying the razor and will it be truly shave ready. No point buying if not otherwise you will never know what shave ready is for when you start honing yourself.

Thanked: 0Thanks eddy79. I guess that's what I'm trying to figure out. You're right. It should be truly shave ready for that reason. I will add that to my list.

Hi Damon & welcome to SRP. I hope you have learned to strop. That is the next most important thing to owning a straight razor. If you need practice, you can use a butter knife so that you don't cut your new strop up. If you have cut it, no big deal, you can either sand it out or glue it back down if it is just hanging. I like to use rubber cement since it doesn't harden up but rather stays pliable. Good luck with you venture!
