Hello from Minneapolis
I realized I signed up a while back but have never posted. I've been wet shaving with a DE for a few years now and I've decided this is a hobby I am going to stick with. I guess you could say it's now a lifestyle.
I attempted to use a cheap straight once, it was not even close to shave ready so I gave up on it. I acquired a few stones and a strop with good intentions to try again along with a couple vintage razors from ebay. I have all the tools but not the skills to hone the razor. I could use a little guidance if anyone is in the area who could help out plus meet some people with the same interests.

First of all, welcome! My suggestion would be to start by having one of your razors professionally honed, that way you have something to compare to, and you'll know what a truly sharp razor should feel like.
I believe there are some members in the classifieds area that could help you out.
There is also plenty of info in the wiki, and there are a lot of great videos showing how to hone.

Got your PM and I replied to you. May I suggest that you click on "Settings" at the top of this screen and enter your "Location" in the profile. That way I can contact your when there is a Minnesota Razor Get-Together.
Bring along your razors etc & I will try to have Rod Bell ( RodB) come over also. Lets get you shaving with a straight razor.
