Thanked: 1Good evening from Aotearoa NZ
Hello all,
I'm 26 primary school teacher.
I hate shaving with a regular safety razor and love things that are sharp and shiny so here I am!
I have just purchased a gold dollar razor and a leather strop from a NZ vendor who has also honed it to be shave ready for me and who recommended this forum.
Among (many) other things I make my own home made soaps (starting with the raw fat and rendering etc all myself) I hope to learn from you all an eventually make a decent shaving soap to use.
Straight razor shaving also appeals to me for its sustainability (less waste, maintainable at a lower level of technology)
Heck, given enough time i suspect i may even have a go at the forging of my own . . .
Thanks for having me aboard - I'll try and read enough in the next few weeks to not ask too many idiot level questions :-)

Welcome to SRP mate, i know you'll enjoy your stay.
If they let us Aussies in, I'm sure they'll allow KIWI's too
The search engine works extremely well, so you may find answers to many of the questions you may have without the need to post another thread.
You might also want to update your user details to show where your from, so that other members from your region can help you out if close by.
Cheers,
Paul

Thanked: 1Thanks for the welcome guys!
Having just read the gold dollar thread
http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...tml#post557882
and found that i'm probably going to get sub-par results with it (the vendor endorsed it with one particular thread from here - i didn't look further unfortunately).
Can anyone recommend a NZ available straight razor to buy and/or company to buy from?
I don't own a credit card so have no interest in e-bay and other internationals.
