Thread: Joining the party

I've been shaving with a straight for a few months and have found quite a bit of great info on this site. Thanks to everyone who's contributed.

Even after shedding a little blood (and in one case, significantly more), I'm totally hooked. However, why do I want to keep buying more wet shaving stuff? Also, when I go into stores in the US, why do they look at me like I'm asking to buy a pet tyrannosaurus when I ask about shaving brushes or the like?

I've wondered about the urge to get more gear, it's mysterious. When I took up gardening, one spade was just fine - I have no desire to get 30 spades. Same with fossil collecting - one geological hammer, sorted. Real problem with shaving gear, though. I've made myself stop buying razors, I've made myself stop buying soaps, now I've got 2 strops coming in the post. Mysterious.
