Thanked: 1Big hello from Poland
Hi everybody!
I've just treated myself with my very first straight razor!
It's a thiers-issard 5/8 dandy, and I'm loving it
Within the first hour of owning it I managed to hit it against the faucet
Tried to hone it on the chromium oxide paddle, but I think I just dulled out the blade a little bit Luckily it still cuts a hanging hair.
I was pretty heartbroken, but decided to keep using it anyway, and today I managed to complete my third shave.
So far no nicks or cuts; today I went for against the grain part, and have a few baby smooth areas on my cheeks!
I'm very motivated and soon I'll probably flood the forum with all the questions that I have

Welcome and good straight razor, too! Don't give up and possibly stop hitting the faucet!
I hope the razor was not damaged, however a good hone will do its job and bring the edge back to life.

Welcome Bary, sounds like things are coming together nicely for you. Glad to hear the razor is still shaving. Once you've got a feel for the basic shaving/stropping motion I'd be hunting for a second shave ready razor. It's always nice to have a backup/benchmark razor lying around.
