Hello from Denver, CO!
Hey guys been lurking for a few months reading and studying. Finally made the jump on saturday at SRD and got my first straight, DOVO 6/8 black and strop. I can say hands down fastest time, from order placed to my front door, of any seller anywhere for any product ever. I placed my order on a Saturday morning and recieved it today, monday! Looking forward to perfecting the craft and learning. I couldn't wait and against advice went for a full shave on my first attempt. Struggled with jawline and chin the most, ended up with a slight cut right above my left ear lobe where I caught from blade over hang, but otherwise pretty solid overall. I did have some, what I percieve to be, pulling on the hair, not sure if it was my blade angle, sharpness, or slowness of the shave speed. Aany help appreciated and also any issue with shaving daily?

The pulling could be from many things. Without being there it would be hard to give you an exact reason. You should not really feel any pulling if everything is going OK. The razor should cut through the hair effortlessly. I am glad you had a fairly successful shave. There are no issues with shaving daily as long as your face can take it. I shave everyday, mostly, unless I have a bad shave with lots of razor burn. I will give my face a rest for a day.
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

If you got it from SRD it is safe to say it was sharp,
there is a touch of resistance if you are plowing straight through (less if you are scything or using a guillotine stroke),
angle and pressure are key and take time to master.
Relax and enjoy, take your time it will only get better. It is just Whisker Whacking
Relax and Enjoy!

I'm still a newbie but I will add my .02. Make sure you are stretching your skin and use extremely light pressure. And of course watch the angle. This does make a difference. I was using too much pressure at first along with probably the wrong angle and I paid the price with razor burn. Don't try to get it all in the first pass, re-lather and get anything you missed on a 2nd pass again WTG to start. I agree with previous post. You can shave daily if your face can take it. If you have cuts or razor burn though, I would suggest letting your face rest or using a cartridge over those areas til they heal. I find that it's coming together more and more each time I shave, using less pressure, proper angle, lather making, speed of shave, confidence in strokes, etc. I used to shave maybe every two or three days. Now I shave everyday. It's almost addicting!
