    Default Greetings from SK!

From the (now) sunny land of Saskatchewan located somewhat centrally in North America, greetings!

I am a computer aided drafting technician in the oil and gas industry, in my mid thirties.

A friend of mine got me back into wet shaving a couple months ago, and since then my interests towards using a straight razor have grown.
Until a couple days ago I was only using a DE, but my friend lent me a Mulcuto vintage straight razor to try out.

    Cheers!

Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!

You will have questions, and I strongly recommend that you research the wiki!! With that said, you will still have questions so fire away!

You will find that basically ‘Everything’ about using, maintaining, using and selecting a straight razor is based on ‘Preference’!

For example I’ve found that I ‘prefer’ round points and I ‘prefer’ razors in the 3/4 or larger size! With that said, I frequently use straight points and even a 4/8 straight point. As I said, I just ‘prefer’ the larger round points!

Absorb as much as you can especially from the Mods and the Mentors, along with those who have been at it for awhile!!

If it wasn’t for the help from some experienced members when I first got started, I probably wouldn’t have stuck with learning to use and maintain a straight! I have personally thanked them!

Look to see if there are any other members in your area of Canada, hands on learning teaches so much in such a short period of time!! It is actually invaluable!!!!

While I’ve never been to your province, I have spent many a holiday in British Columbia and Alberta!! I’ve always enjoyed meeting and sharing time with every Canadian that I’ve met, they have been so welcoming and warm!

Again Welcome! Enjoy the ride! It’s a wonderful new way of life!!

Welcome, Raymond. Lots of info here. As you are new, do a search on the forum here about questions you have. Then you will be familiar with some of the answers you will get!
If we can find some local members for you, hands on and eyes on are the best way to learn!
    Good luck!

    Yep.

Welcome Raymond! Lots of great information for those of us new to straight razors. Seems like the natural progression is from DE to straight razor, I don't think I'll ever go back to DE!
