Hello. I just started reading this forum today. Today was special because I ordered a Iwasaki Kasimori. I don't really care about what people say about Kasimori, I'm really excited about having one. I must have read everything on the Eastern Smooth blog, and along with the Kasimori I ordered everything I think I'll need to keep it's edge in good condition at least until it needs to be honed again. all together it probably came out to be over 400 usd and I won't be able to use it for another month. Not something easy to explain to people, but I've decided I have to see for myself just what an Iwasaki Kasimori can do.
Anyways before that I've been shaving with feather DE, and and then Astra DE. I also have a Geneva Cutlery razor which I got for cheap but it's only been honed up to about 6K so I'm not sure how it will shave even if it's refined up to 'shave ready'. I hope to get it up to shave ready eventually though.
Anyways glad to see other straight razor fans. Hopefully you all don't make me want to spend another 400 on more stuff I gotta wait at least two years before the Iwasaki pays for itself.

Hi! Welcome! I'm extremely new here myself, and I've only just started with DE's. I'm getting used to things a bit before I jump into straights. But I've had a great (albeit limited) experience here so far. There's a lot of good gents on this forum.
And fair warning, you're almost guaranteed to spend at least another 400 on supplies. RAD is a very real thing. I got so over excited that I bought a second razor before I had even received my first in the mail.

Thanks for the reply. I love DE especially Astra. I know eventually I'll buy another DE blade holder so yes I guess you might be right. But I'll have to hold out for a while. Thankfully I don't have a wife that will look at my bills... or is that a good thing?
