Gday shavers
Hi everyone
Wayne here from Australia. I have always had high interest in straight razors, even when I was not old enough to shave. A have an addiction to blades, not the bad kind, just total respect for a tool that was major part of human advancement. I like fishing, camping and survivalist things. I was also raised by and older father so I love older things and ways of life, believe some things were better in the world. So with all that straight razors became a no brainer, and finally I got the courage to get one. With a lot of research on and off over the years since I started shaving in my teens (self taught) and a lot more research over the last 6 months I made the decision to go for it, I then got help from Havachat45, who I found out lives not 200 meters away. So with this I ordered my straight, a Dovo Classic White 5/8, I ordered a strop, I have a cheapy davinci brush at the moment, but also bought my self, good towls, different levels and types of soaps, creams and balms and have set up my bathroom ready for it all. I love doing my own work, so all hangers, stands and cabinets will be homemade. Still waiting on the strop and razor to arrive at the moment.
Future plans will be to buy some shapton glass stones, for honing, and I will like to refurbish and restore razors. I also bought a Weishi safety razor as a first time try at that too, first go tonight, I nicked up a bit, so another future by is something to stop that. I do get nicked up on higher end cartridge razors on the best goes, and I think ones I get use to safety and straight razors it will end, it always cuts me around the neck area just under the jaw line. I guess practice and future tries will show.
Anyway thats all I guess for now.
Thanks

G'day Wayne, welcome to the forum. There's quite a few Aussies around here and you'll find each one of us is more than happy to answer any questions you might have. I've got a set of Shapton Ceramic Pro stones and I'm very happy with them.

Welcome to the 'Place'.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanks guys, I am well on my way I think, my old man gave me my parents old cutlery set box to make a case for the razors out of, it was their big wedding gift but dont worry, long seperated and the cutlery is and a antique cabinet. Its a little on the weak side but some rebuilding and mods I hope it should come out good.
