New to the game. Hello everyone.
So after much research and many hours of trying to decide if I want to partake in this new found hobby I decided...............shoot yeah I do. So here I am to learn all I can about it. It really seems pretty cool to do something like the my ancestors did way back when. I'm all about trying to do things a little harder than they probably need to be. For instance I bow hunt. Sure I could use a gun but that would be too easy. So is shaving with a Mach 12 razor. So bring on the straight razor..............and the band aids and Neosporin lol. I'll be in the market for a nice razor and strop here pretty quick. Or now if you have a good one to sell. I'm not rich but I'd rather buy a good one now and have it forever. Headed to the store now to look at soaps and a brush. I look forward to chatting with you fine folks and learning all I can. God Bless. Jeff

Check the classifieds if you are looking for a razor to buy from a member here. Razors and strops can be bought new as a combo deal from a number of online vendors.

I've been doing this for 18 months now (so I'm still a beginner). I started off buying a starter kit from Straight Razor Designs (razor, strop, brush, mug and soap). I can't recommend them enough. The razor comes shave ready and you get a certificate for a 2nd hone for free. You will probably end up rolling the edge on the razor until you learn how to strop properly.
