Hey y'all!
I've been lurking here for a while and decided to make an account today and say hello =]. I'm Victoria and I'm an art/nursing double major at LSU. My boyfriend has straight razor fever, and has been getting me into double edge safety razors for my legs and I think I'm hooked. =] It didn't take much; I've always had what y'all call acquisition disorder for whatever I'm into at the time and some of the old razors are just gorgeous! And slightly less weird than my last collection, human eye prosthetics. Anyway nice to meet y'all =]
Edit: I'd also like to ask a question if that's alright. I just today received my very first non-disposable razor, a blue Lady Gillette that my sweet guy helped me find. Can anyone recommend a blade to learn with that I won't kill myself with? He's not terribly familiar with double edged blades and I've heard some called more aggressive than others. Please and thank you =].Last edited by VictoriaRose; 05-22-2013 at 12:34 AM.

Thanked: 1263Welcome to SRP Victoria. As already said, you should be able to find blade sampler packs at almost any of the reputable online retailers. That way you can try a few and pick which works the best for you. Enjoy

Welcome to the 'Place' & possibly more AD's.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

+1 on the sampler packs. You can also go to your local Wal-Mart or Bed, Bath and Beyond and pick up some Wilkinson' Sword. They are fairly mild. But you also must consider the razor you are using. I have no clue about the one you just purchased. Anyway, some razors can be aggressive and you can top that off with an aggressive blade. For some folks, especially someone new to this art, might find unappealing.
Anyway, welcome aboard, always nice to have ladies joining in and getting hooked on this hobby/activity.From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

Thanks!
@onimaru55 - certainly more ADs, probably not a good thing =]
@mephisto - I'll look for that brand, mild sounds like a good way to start

You can try amazon.com. They have a sample pack of razor blades at a decent price and it will give you an idea of what works.
If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything.

I have been shaving for a while with safety razors before starting with straights. Personna Platinum are fairly mild too.
