Default Hello from the new guy

    Allow myself to introduce.....myself...

New guy here. I have been DE shaving for years but I am just now stepping up to straights. I have to say that so far it has been a great experience. I think that all my years on a DE has helped a lot because in the couple weeks that I have been at it I have only had a few nicks and no razor burn.
Just like my DEs I am liking my straights well aged. My DE of choice is a '62 Gillette Adjustable and so far my straight of choice is my 1890's Maher & Grosh Wiry Beard (with a W&B Special a close second). I see lots more antiques in my future! I will have a chopper!
Not only has the shaving part intrigued me but also the restoration and honing part as well. I am the kind of guy who wants to do it all myself so to take a rusty blade and bring it back to life is awesome. Now I am doing numbers in my head to see how I can make my own! LOL Yeah like I am a blacksmith...

Anyway, I am an active duty Air Force guy. I have been in Florida for a long time and I am about to leave for a year in Korea. Hopefully I can restore some blades while I am there.
