Thanked: 1G'Day folks
G'Day from Sydney, Australia.
I started shaving with a straight razor to not have to buy crappy refill cartridges and to save some money. Hah, don't tell the missus that I have already spent the amount of at least 12 years worth of cartridges on shaving equipment!
I have only been at it for about 10 weeks and don't think my Dovo came quite shave ready. I am experimenting with the honing at the moment. The learning curve is steep!

Hey Thunderbird!!
Sounds like you are off to a pretty good start then! You will find plenty of Aussies here to help you out if you need. Pretty sure that everyone here is great to approach and ask questions, well that's how its been in my experience.
You are also lucky enough to have a great pro honer near you, in Sydney in fact! If you run into trouble with that Dovo and can't quite get it after reading and asking here, Oz is friendly and puts a NICE edge on a blade.
Nick.

Thanked: 983Get onto Oz and have that Dovo honed right first time around T'bird. You won't regret it and it will give you a base line for what you should strive for in your own honing endeavours. Honing is another skill on top of the shaving aspect. Yes you can learn both at the same time but it makes it so much harder if you're working with a less than optimal edge...And are none the wiser! Dovo's don't come shave ready.

G'day from Sydney backatcha. Pm me if you need hand. I'll only need 5 minutes to teach you everything I know.

Thanked: 1Thank you all for the welcome.
I have been shaving with this blade for the whole time with mostly good results. I am kinda stubborn and like to work things out myself.
Onimaru, thank you for the kind offer. Good to know that help is close by.
