Thanked: 0Hello
Hello all. I have been on the SRP a lot throughout the past few months. This is the place I keep finding myself if I need some help, bored or need inspiration. I am new to straight razor shaving (about 2 months). I have bought a few blades and have decided this is the way to shave.
Cheers!

Thanked: 1587Hello and welcome to SRP!
Glad to hear you've decided to use straight razors - what have you got so far?

Thanked: 0Initially I bought the cheap'o AOS straight with pre-oil, soap, aftershave balm, and a fine brush. I was getting a horrible shave. I was researching US made razors when I stumbled upon Hart Steel. I bought one from Baxter of California the blued blade. The shave was a world of difference, so I bought another from Hart (square point, 1/4 hollow, brushed metal with Brazilian Cherry scales). To my enjoyment the blades are the same and both shave the same.
I thought I'd learn the entire process so I then bought some hones. Norton 4k/8k, Chinese 12k, and a balsa with .5 micron green abrasive. I practiced on the AOS razor and found it not to be shave ready. None of the three where. They are now, thanks to this website, and Lynn.
Thanks for the welcome. Are there any razors born in Australia?

Thanked: 983We have our own custom maker right here in Brisbane, that pulls out some really nice razors. Stu (Str8Raz0r) and his 'Boxer' brand.
