Thanked: 2Hello from Dayton
Long time lurker. Avid engineer, pilot, firearms enthusiast, and SR fan.
Just got my first TIs. Have a more than a few Dovos, and decided to venture out a bit. Stopped by a rather large chain shaving shop (will remain nameless) and picked up a couple (I have a fetish for matched sets...) of Thiers Sabatier 5/8s. One is wonderfully sharp, truly shave ready. The other....had corrosion spots on the blade I missed when looking, nicks on the edge.
I'm not a slouch with a hone, but I'm considering sending it to straightrazordesigns to get it set up right.
Just a little bummed by this.

Welcome to SRP
If you have never done edge restoration, 1k and lower, I would recommend you send it out.

Thanked: 2Yep, Dayton OH.
TI update - 2 glasses of Bookers later, nicks are going using 20 strokes on a Norton 4k, followed by 40 on the 8k side.
I guess they looked worse than they were. Still, a bit bummed.
But thanks for the welcome, guys.

Thanked: 16I'm in Kettering and have been collecting and restoring for almost a year and am up to about 100 razors (no TIs yet).
Send me a pm and I'll send you my email.
Also, National Shaving Memoribilia Show in October at Indiana Wesleyan Conference Center in West Chester. Awesome show with tons of amazing razors.
