    Default Greetings. -- I don't know what I don't know

San Francisco Penninsula lifelong resident. Want to say greetings to all and thanks for these incredibly informative articles.
New to this type of Board. Usually just lurk, not interested in flames and childish behavior. This board seems straight forward, curteous, and most importantly, informative.
Because of lifestyle, been a combo shaver since late 60’s. Latest & greatest safety - while trimming mustache & various beards with a straight edge. Unable to maintain a decent edge on a traditional SR went over to Personna SR (trimmer?; no guard). They used them for the 'Razor Cut' haircut long ago. 1st attempts to shave with a straight only left me a bloody mess, though through the years would shave an easy section of face to see how I would do.
Recently purchased a few refurbished razors. Shaved 1st time completely and no blood: game on. Beaver brushes, Nariwa? stones, new bridal strop.
1 hr ago I found my original razor! Unbelieveably pristine shape Pearl King razor & my brand new looking Pearlduck Belgian Deep Rock razor hone, (don't remember it being so small). Original buy, circa 1968. Wish I could share this feeling. Santa Claus just arrived. Probably what motivated me to finally write.

    thx
    George

Welcome George, you are going to make a lot of friends here. Whatever you do, dont let JimmyHAD find out about that Deep Rock hone!

    Hi George,

Welcome to the forum!! I think you'll enjoy it here, for the reasons you listed. Lots of nice folks here and always ready to help. Questions are always welcomed, so ask away when you have them.

Sure would like to see a picture of that hone if you could post one.

If you get the chance, and haven't already, the wiki and Glen's "Beginners Tips" have some excellent info in them and both are linked below.

    Enjoy the forum, and again.....Welcome!!

    Regards,

    Howard

    Hey George,

I'm on an iPad also. Used too you couldn't, but since the iPhoto app came out for the iPad, it's established compatibility with the forum software. If you want to post images, just get the iPhoto app from iTunes, modest price.

You don't even have to use the iPhoto, but it is handy to touchup images on your iPad. Once iPhoto is on your iPad, when replying to, or posting a thread, just use the picture icon above (when in the reply screen).

    Then,

You have to upload one at a time, but you can do each one from the same upload screen.

    That should do it!!

Thanks Pat. This is one of the deepest and richest sites I've ever visited. Every time I Google razor info, seemingly obscure to me bingo, there's info and it's this very site. Amazing. I have to also be checking dates of posts as I was getting excited and then notice post was 2007 or older. :-)>
