Default Hello from the forests of Michigan

After many years of shaving the "modern way" I have returned to simmpler days of shaving. My story; I am a 54 year old who grew up in a single parent home, without a father, I had to rely on other male role models in my life. One of these, an older gentlman taught me the art of the straight razor shave. Not knowing any diffrent I spent my teen years brushing and nicking my youthful wiskers away. Fast forward through years of using "the can and the bic" disposable.

Now I am back and really enjoying it. Enjoying collecting all the esentals. Enjoying the interaction with others.

    Welcome.

I am a bit curious, after your extended break, how did you find reacquainting yourself with the hobby, difficult or easy? Also, did you keep any of your youthful razors?

Welcome to a great forum. I am also from MI, I grew up in Oakland and Livingston counties and spent summers in Luce county just south of the dreaded gitche gumee. I miss the mitten often but now when I visit family I am on vacation and get to enjoy the myriad of activities that only MI can offer.

Here on SRP you will find lots of info and friendly people; there is also one nasty bugger but I refuse to disclose who!
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

thankyou for your welcome Gentelmen. In response my return to straight razor shaving has had a "learning curve", Yet, what an amazing amount of choices. I have almost replaced my collection of mugs, razors etc, lost to theft and time.
