Default Another rookie joins the fold

Hi All, Just getting started with a straight, without much success. Thought I found a good deal on a starter setup but as I've found out it really wasn't shave ready. So I guess I have to try to find one that is shave ready and try to fix the one I got so I can learn to maintain my stuff. As the name implies, my home is now where I park it. We're fulltime RVers and we move with the seasons. Right now we're enjoying S.W. UT. I love all the info on this site and glad I found it or I may have been tempted to give up, just so sick of the cartridge razors and the price.
Did I read on here somewhere (couldn't find it again ) that Straight Razor Designs is a good place to find a truely shave ready razor?

    Welcome to the forum RVShave

To answer your question all of SRD (Straight Razor Designs) razors are sold Pro honed by Lynn.
Unpack it rinse and shave, no stropping needed for your first go around.
    It is just Whisker Whacking
    Relax and Enjoy!

    Welcome to SRP!

Pfries definitely answered you correctly. If Lynn or any of the members in the classified section under Member Services has honed your razor, it will definitely be shave ready. If you still have issues after that, you know that it's several variables causing the problem such as pressure, blade angle, beard prep, stropping technique, etc.

The bad news is that it could be any one or several of them causing the problem. The good news though is that they can be systematically eliminated until you have great experiences using a straight razor. Just like anything else, it takes a little time, patience and practice.

If you haven't read through the wiki (at the top of the site, click on Library) you definitely should, as it's a wealth of info to help you get through the learning curve. Another option to consider is finding a local experienced member (wherever local might be for you at the time) who can give you some face to face help.

    Again, welcome, and good luck!
