Thanked: 10Hello All
Hey folks
I am new to straight razor shaving. My lovely wife purchased me a safety razor set for my birthday and I quickly moved on to a straight razor. I purchased my straight from Classic Edge. I live in London Ontario and am interested in razor restoration. As I'm such a newbie I will likely cut my teeth (not literally) with hand sanding and doing things nice and slow.
Cheers all

driftwood,
Welcome to the forum!! As mentioned above, there's lots to read here and it can really help to make your transition to straights easier and in many cases less expensive. There's a couple of links below in my sig. line that have some really helpful stuff in them.
Since you're talking about some restoration, this thread should help you out. http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...wers-here.html
Enjoy the forum, and when you have questions, ask away!
Regards,
Howard

Thanked: 10Thank you all for your warm welcomes.
@sirstripsalot: I ve been lurking for a couple of weeks so I've read just about everything on restorations. I bought new professionally honed Dovo 5/8 round point from Classic edge and am using that as my baseline for honing. I picked up some eBay lots after reading all the advise on this forum about eBay buying. I have since returned it to a shiny mirror finish (by hand) and am just going through the learning curve of CA glue finishing on a set of scales I've made for it. Ill post a picture when I'm done. I've also been leaning to actually shave and can do a full three pass shave with no razor burn and no blood. The best part about SR shaving is it gives me the chance to unwind (I shave at night) after the stress of the day. I love the fact that I have a tool that will do a great job and look after me provided I care for it. I'm looking forward to doing some more resto work and in the future hope to get a tumbler to help out with the process. Thanks again everyone.
