Size: 44.9 KBCheck out the shaving bowl /brush set I made yesterday. Purple heart and Zebra wood. First time go. Thanks to LOTS of YouTube and the guys at the Guenette arts and crafts center on Fort Campbell. Thanks guys. Turning is not as easy as it looks, but DEFINITELY worth the effort. Since taking photos, I have learned that a carnuba wax finish is easily dissolved by shaving soap. ---off to the Lowes for some Thompson' s...........

Very nice combo of purpleheart and zebra, job well done indeed.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

How big do those water buffalow horns get in diameter? Do you have to make a plug for the bottom like for a powder horn plug and then turn that, or do you do some sort of flattening out and turning of the cutout/flattened piece? I'm trying to get a visual. If it looks like the horn scales I've seen on razors, i bet it looks first rate

The piece I had was about 4 in dia,you have to slab the horn to get the top and bottom material.
The bowl itself is made from two pces,The horn is semi hollow so you Glue the bottom in place, glue it to a face plate and turn the bowl than make the lid.
Was way to time consuming to do anymore.
