What a great question! I will now be looking into getting a set of suitable towels for draping over the shoulder etc. Currently I use a damp sponge for wiping the razor on and I have a face washer folded into quarters that I sit my soap bowl on. I use that for general sink cleaning after shaving, and replace it once a week with a fresh laundered one. Face drying is done with my regular bath towel.

    Thumbs up

I use the towels of my Italian forum
This is the little one. The big one is the dopple, rectangular shape. Very nice IMHO!

    And still available ...

Bar mops, sold at Sam's Club. Only problem is Swiss Miss likes to use them for cleaning.

I bought the smallest microwave at Wal Mart, bar towels, then folded the towels & stacked them on the micro. I soak the folded towel & put it on a plate in the micro, then I start making the lather,,,,,as I'm finishing the strokes, I hit the micro button for 70 seconds,,,,after the last stroke , I remove the towel, squeeze it out & place a hot steaming towel on my face, then remove the excess lather with it. This probably is the best 6 seconds of my shave.

    Why only 6 seconds?

Even when the towel is steaming hot, it cools down fast once you open it up to spread it on the face.

Default My towel selection and review.

Well, I ended up purchasing the Keeble "Premium Dish Towel"

    Advertised as:
    -Professional Grade 24 oz.
    -Super Absorbent, Low Lint
    -Herring Bone Weave
    -26"x15"
    -White with blue stripe
    -12 pack

I have to say I really like it so far. It absorbs water well and doesn't end up being a squeegee pushing water around the sink. No lint strings or fuzzies. Herring Bone pattern is supposed to impart strength (so far so good). It's 100% cotton, not sure if that is a plus or not but I like it. Only con was that they needed to be washed and dried twice before use for them to fluff out and become absorbent. SWMBO is happier with a cleaner bathroom and I get to expand my shaving gear... just a little.

Where I got it from: Amazon.com: Kitchen Towels , White with Royal Blue Stripe, Highly Absorbent, Low Lint, 100% Cotton Dish Towels, High Quality Professional Grade 24 oz. Tea Towels, 26 x 15, Herringbone Weave Design. One Dozen Towels from Keeble Outlets, Guaranteed Sat

I got a nine pack of "Sheer Glory" barber 100% cotton towels, green stripe, 25" X 15.5" from Sally Beauty Company. We have a retail store about 1/2 mile from my apartment, so I was able to see them before I bought. They were $11.99 for the 9 pack. I just bought them today, so I haven't used any yet (will tomorrow for my shave). They look good! Ed

I have a few rejected hand towels that my wife donated to my shaving supplies. They work just fine, I don't feel the need to buy special towels
    Edit to add:
I just noticed the age of this thread...
