Thanked: 3Is this scuttle rare?
I saw this scuttle at an antique shop and it was priced VERY high! Anyone know what the reason for it being so expensive is?

Did you turn it over and see if there was a makers mark.
Ceramics are art and if made by a famous maker can have
value to those that value such thing. My Mom's cookie jar
cost her $5 and I would give a lot more than that to have one
like it in my kitchen. The memory of her baking cookies still
makes me happy.
One final comment. We do not do appraisals here. Discussing
price can get a post deleted and the thread locked.
EDIT: never saw one like it before this.. Might be rare
but I do not follow such things.Last edited by niftyshaving; 09-23-2013 at 08:07 PM.

that scuttle was made by the wedgwood family as a gift for their new inlaw back in the late 19th century and before he took a trip to the galapagos.

I did a google search using "the hag" and "scuttle". One of the top results was a website where that scuttle model was being auctioned off. That site has a lot of unique and cool, IMHO, shaving items.
Anyone interested in a thread with a link to the site in the auctions section?
