Thumbs up 全presso machine plus scuttle =?

Ok all you folks out there, owning a scuttle and espresso machine, I have a shaving fix for you.

If you have an espresso machine, you can do as the ancients did to get hot water to the shave stand. Heat the bottom water with the steam wand of your espresso machine till it is hot enough you need a towel to carry it. On old fashion scuttles, the handle will do.

At that point add a little water to the bowl and steam heat it also to wet your brush at shave time.

If you have the room, a little used steam toy espresso machine in your cave will do the job. I have a good machine within feet of my shave cave, and espresso after the shave.

    Who Knew?

Along those lines you can use one of those steam machines they sell like the shark and the oreck units to heat towels and water too.

You know... one day I am going to buy a new house. And when I do, I think I am going to build it with the notion that there are three things I really love doing in my house - preferably at the same time. Those three things are; enjoy a great shave, drink a great cup of joe, and smoke a good cigar.

I believe that unless I move to a big city where square footage is a thing, I am going to have my den but-up next to my smoke room that houses a small fridge and a good coffee maker (all ventilated of course and away from the wife's wrath )!

I am doing a similar thing on a daily basis. I have a Bunn ThermoFresh coffee maker. It has a boiler that keeps water hot. You fill the carafe with water and fill the reservoir on the coffee maker. Place the carafe below the basket and let it rip. With in seconds I have a thermally insulated covered carafe filled with 190 degree Fahrenheit water. Insulated, easy to carry, and easy to pour.

I use a G20 scuttle (love it). I carry the insulated and covered carafe to the shave den and fill the scuttle. I shave slowly. I use lather and a hot towel for my beard prep. The first brush full of lather goes on at 146 degrees Fahrenheit. By the time I get to pass three and some clean up the lather on the brush is at 121 degrees Fahrenheit. It all works like a dream and the soap holds up perfectly in this range.

I can go to a higher temperature using the microwave, but all of the soaps don't work as well. Using the Bunn as boiler I haven't had a single soap breakdown yet. I suffer from HLA -- Hot Lather Addiction. I caution if you use one of these methods? You might come down with HLA too.

    Best,

    Ed

PS I'm a Nespresso Pixie user too but so far it lives with the Bunn in the office. I do my frothing with an Aeroccino. I should have kept the old espresso machine for the shave den! Technology is a good thing!
