    Default Advice sought...

I have fully moved into DE and SR shaving, leaving behind my Mach3 days. And glad to have done so. However, I do have a dilemma. I'm left with my old Hommage Stockholm shaving set (see picture). The brush is a heavy, chrome plated, metal base with silvertip badger. The beauty of this brush is that I've been using it for the last 4 years religiously, and although I used to hate the Mach3 cartridge, the brush is spectacular. It has bloomed out nicely and it's extremely soft.

What should I do? Should I sell the set and invest in another silvertip, or should I store the stand and razor handle and continue to enjoy the broken in brush? Any way I can replace the handle on this thing and still keep the know? Not sure how to go about this.

If the brush is good, hang onto it. Use it. You can retire the razor or just leave it hang out with the brush to keep it company.

Yes that's was were I was leaning. The brush is great...definitely got better with age and continues to perform spectacularly. The handle is heavy, but solid.

Brushes are tough. By the time you find out if you like it, you already own it. And sometimes you end up owning one or two that you don't like. So if you have a good one don't let it go.

If you like it, keep it. You will acquire more and may not like them. It's a sure bet, keep it.

I know that the golden nib sells DE heads for razors, is there maybe a way to switch out heads on that razor and convert it to a DE?

It looks like the stand is magnetic? Could you try and find a d/e that would work with the stand, or if the magnet is strong enough, that is how Geezer hangs his straights, using the tail.

I'm a newb, so take it with a grain or two of salt, but I agree with the majority. That silvertip is a high quality brush. I'd keep it and keep using it. As for the stand, it won't hurt a thing to leave it out with the razor that comes with. You don't have to use it, but I think it will look nice. Just get a stand for your DE to sit beside it and enjoy the view.
I have a SR and a DE, and it depends on the day which one I'll use. I've also got one wit the interchangeable cartridge head, similar to the Mach 3. It stays out as well. If I'm in a great big hurry, I'll grab that, shave and go. Doesn't gete a huge amount of use, but I like to keep the options open. YMMV.
