Default Made Myself A Razor Case

As the title says, I made myself a 3 razor case/sleeve. It is made out of decommissioned cotton jacket fire hose from Marine Corps Air Station Futenma Crash, Fire, Rescue. May not be very pretty, but it is rugged and functional. Let me know what you think.

John, it doesn't have to look pretty as long as it is functional and that looks as if it gets the job done. So tell us more about the razors it is holding.

Do you have access to someone that can hone it for you? Shoot, your in Okinawa, there should be plenty of places for you to get it honed. Do you have a strop? Again, what am I thinking, you just made a holder from canvas. Get a 24"x2" piece of that canvas to use a strop. Now we just need to get you some leather.

I have a strop on the way (modular paddle). No luck finding anyone local to hone it for me. Plenty of places will hone/sharpen kitchen cutlery. No one will touch a razor though. At least not that I have found. Still debating on sending it to someone is the states (~4 weeks shipping time in total), or buying some stones and try to learn.

Where is Home State side? Have you done a search to see if there are any SRP members in your vicinity? Before you learn to hone you need to know what a properly honed razor shaves like so that you have some sort of comparison. Had that one ever been honed or was it like that when you got it? If need be, you could send it to me and I could touch it up for you. But like you said, a long time in transit.

don't want to hijack the thread but I wonder if the firehose would make a good linen type strop ,, looks cool as a razor pouch,, maybe good for pasted strop , with 2 sons as firemen I bet I could get some of this tc

Your razor onthe right has those scales that look like the ugly ones i replaced on one of mine yesterday. I posted a thread showing the new cedar scales i made. I like the case though. But i generally lay razors on a felt pad for air circulation sothey dont develop rust spots

I bet firehose is way too rigid for a strop and old firehose is dirty

Yes, it is very rigid. Don't really know if it would work or not. I tend to lean toward not. But i know nothing about linen strops.

Also, i did see your thread on scales. These are the same cheesy ones. Yours came out awesome.
