A shave cave display even SWMBO might go for.
Here is a first project of what I think an average spouse would allow in the shared shave nook, his /HERS?
I was in a second hand store a week ago and picked up this goodie chest for a fair price. I do suppose that Ikea or other box stores have them also. They are made to be wall hung also with hardware installed to do so.
This one was made to hold 14 Straights and assorted other stuff while the main hoard is hidden elsewhere.
I did some figuring and made a thin board to fit into the top space and then laid out the holes for the magnets. Ooh the magnets !! are simple neodymium disks and can be had online very cheaply. Get ones at least 3mm thick 4x3mm is a nice size and cheaper by the hundreds.
Back to that board. I try to keep the holes at least ¾” apart and the same from edges. This for this box made two rows of five wide and one of four wide separating them back to front. The holes drilled, I set the magnets with J.B. Weld! sanded off the excess, painted, and screwed the board to the inside of the box at the top with three screws along the central row of four magnets.
So the straights swing like little bats and there is room for other razors and a puck and some blades.
As to the strength of the magnets, I can walk around the house with the straights hanging and bouncing off the back and sides.
Your ideas can make better, or other, or different, as these displays are all different when found in the wild.

PS this is cross posted.
Another smaller display is to follow in a different thread. This is fun and I am not planning to keep the displays.Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Someday, when I get over my born-again-bachelor attitude I'll do a deep cleaning and organize my piles and piles of fabrics for my wall hangings and find all the accidentally hidden shaving items and do a box like Geezer's.
In the old days you could have easily gotten a job as a window decorator in a major department store with the little display you have there."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Thanked: 18I think that's pretty cool ! If I was handy I would take a stab at something like that ! The only thing I would try different maybe make the hanging part swivel so you can rotate it to get at different razors or even change the view of them. But as is it sure beats my converted humidor cigar box !

After many years in art school (and degrees) one of the jobs I had was in the display department of the old Meier and Frank Department Store in Portland, OR. Ten floors of escalators with two display section on each floor. I was given the escalator wells and a helper and allowed free reign for the time I spent working there. In those days you had to carry the maniquins covered in a sheet or the old lady shoppers would complain about 'the nudity of it all'.
And it was all hands on deck for the Christmas windows. We had to compete for honors against three other large stores in the downtown area."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

Are you talking about 'this kind of window dresser'?
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdin’s cave of 'stuff'.

Thanks for the memories! In High school, I worked many pre-Christmas eves and weekends doing the helper bit with Paul and "The Golden Rule" In St Paul, MN. Hanging off a poorly balanced ladder over the escalators was usually my job. He usually took the honors against "Daytons," "The Emporium," "Sears," "Monkey Wards," and a couple other five story+ Stores.( The midwest, doncha know!)
