    Default Up close & personal

I'm pretty certain that I've seen posts about the same LED microscope as the one I just purchased. But I haven't seen any mention of the adapter that fits it to my Samsung Galaxy S4, or the 10X and 15X Close-up lenses that are also for the S4. I played around with the rig a little, and here's a sample of my initial results:

All images were taken hand-held, so focus probably isn't as good as it could be. With one hand holding the razor, and the other holding the phone, I found that voice control was the best way to capture images.

I think that the apparent discrepancy in magnification is an artifact caused by how I cropped the images.

My initial impression is that the close-up lenses may be a workable substitute for a loupe. I noticed that because they're attached to the phone using magnets, they tended to jump onto the razor! A minor shift of my grip fixed that problem. The microscope was pretty fidgety, but my opinion of it may change after I play with it some more.

Info on the microscope can be found here, while info on the lenses is here.
