I don't have either however I would guess they are both comfortable. it would seem to me it's more a matter of the size brush you have and the soap you use as to whether you need the larger bowl or not.

I've got them both and they are both real good. With the mug the sides are very tall, so lather won't easily go over the sides unless you try. The bowl has the finger loop, also fits nice in the palm of the hand if you don't use the loop. The top edge of the sides slopes down over the bowl to catch lather that would otherwise come over the top. I like both so I couldn't recommend one over the other. IOW, you can't go wrong no matter which you choose.
