Thanked: 4827Yes the outside is all leather. I want to try something exotic like alligator skin. They farm them in the southern US and it is available, I just have not got to the where to get it from yet. This series I am working on will be regular leather. I do intend to do some larger boxes as well. All in good time.

Thanked: 4827That process of marquetry is most intriguing for sure. It is possible. I bought some small pieces of bone slabs with the thought of using those, I also have a friend that does art with metal etching, so maybe a n etched copper plate. I will figure it out later. Thanks for the idea. No saying they all have to be marked the same.

Thanked: 2027Great work Rez.
Marquetry work is truley fascinating (I was never very good at it) is very time consuming.
I made this Quilt chest for my wife many yrs ago (we still have it) The chest took a few days to make.
The Marquetry work took me several mos. will never do it again

Maybe a glass top to show off the item/s inside? Glass can be etched too...
