Travel Kits
So my last couple of business trips, I have needed something shave related. The first one, I cross threaded and stripped the pot metal head of the only DE razor I brought with me. The last one, I forgot shaving soap or cream, and bought a can of barbasol. That was one of the worst shaves I have had in years. It was suggested that I put together a shave kit, so I don’t forget things again. Since my suits don’t fit in a carry-on bag, I had plenty of room, but got it all into a small zippered case, except the soap and the strop.
- Razors: Black Handle Superspeed with blade assortment, Sears Craftsman round point straight, WB Speed 5/8 straight
- Soap/ Cream: Homestead Ranch Goat Butter Soap (mixed scents), sample of Edwin Jagger Sandalwood Shave cream
- Brush: Omega Travel Boar
- Strop: Drygulch Leatherworks Cromexcel Horsehide with Linen Modern strop, 24x3 inches
- Post Shave: Styptic Pencil, Alum Bar, Thayer’s Witch Hazel, Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue, and The Shave Den Iced Lime Aftershave Milk
Shaving will not be an issue on this trip. Would love to see some pictures of other travel kits.

Here is a link to a thread which shows my canvas, roll-up Dopp kit. http://straightrazorpalace.com/misce...rading-co.html.
I usually pack in the kit a straight in a plastic box or a DE, a shave soap stick, brush in small plastic box, alum, small bottle of balm, toothbrush in plastic container, toothepaste, and deodorant.
If your do a search of SRP using the term wet pack you can find some threads displaying Obie's really nice travel kit.

It seems somewhat excessive to take 2 straights and a D/E to me, depending on frequency and duration I would just take one, probably the D/E.
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Yeah, this is excessive. The only things I enjoy while traveling for work are talking to my family, and being able to shave uninterrupted. I will be getting some good kangaroo leather the next order I make, but I had the room for a full sized strop in the bag. Also going to make a roll to hold everything.

Wife presented me with a roll-up kit for my Straights. Something I can put my razors into if I go to any more meet ups. It is really nice and will hold up to 24 blades with a large pouch behind it to hold any miscellaneous items I feel like throwing in.

Minimalist approach - possible perfection from, maybe, late 19th or early 20th century. A padded razor coffin with sliding door beneath, a hone protected under a hinged lid glued into a center compartment and a strop on top. I've used it many times - it should keep a razor with a bevel HHT sharp/smooth for many business trips (or deployments) to come. Based on hone wear when I got it, Heinrich used it plenty. Add a stick of Arko and a little brush alongside in th DOP kit and you're good to go.
Strop is 1.5" x 7.5"; hone is 1.2" x 6.0".

Thanks for saying, Fur'. For purposes of this thread it taught me that a little practice, 11 sq/inches of strop and 8 sq/inches of hone can easily keep you in good shaves from here to... well, not here to eternity but, maybe from here to Kokomo by bicycle. Berlin to Rome by train. El Paso to Nacogdoches by horse. Baldwin City to Grand Junction by 8hp Murray riding mower. Round trip.
Travel, without taking your bathroom in the suitcase, can be complicated enough when everything goes right. Keep it light. Keep it simple. Keep it fun. (And keep it small and out of sight in the hotel room.) Stuff a razor and a Swaty in a thick sock and wrap it up with a foot and half of seatbelt webbing. You are the next incarnation Heinrich Leiblein."We'll talk, if you like. I'll tell you right out, I am a man who likes talking to a man who likes to talk."
