They both work. My personal preference is the liquid with the roller ball applicator.

Thanked: 3795I've never seen anything other than the solid sticks. Where do you get the liquids? I've had the same stick for about 15 years but would like to have the source to recommend for beginners.

Thanked: 3215Yea, never seen liquid, either. I just dip the tip in a drop of water and apply. I store in a small plastic pill container in a drawer to dry.
A stick will last years this way, just make sure your hand is dry.

Thanked: 13The Pacific Shaving Nick Stick works well for me. Liquid with rollerball applicator. Lasts a long time.

I did see a roller ball one at target of all places. That may be the compromise.

I used to use the solid styptic pencils, but now use the Proraso Shave Cut Healing gel : I really like it
