USPS broke my scuttle!
Well I purchased a gorgeous g20 scuttle from a loyal member here. At no fault to him it was broken in shipping. He packaged it well an was secured in the box. Despite the effort the mailman figured out how to break it. The damage was all located to the handle area. I was able to use some gorilla glue an put it back together. Just venting. Either way I used it today and it performed very well. Looking forward to the next shave.

Doesn't see worth the hassle. I glued it together. Doesn't leak so all is ok. Just disappointing.

Thanked: 4828They can be seriously hard on gear. They break hones occasionally too.

Thanked: 3228Sorry to hear about the breakage. It seems like the luck of the draw as I imagine that for the amount of fragile goods the various mail services move breakage is actually pretty low. Not that it makes anyone feel better when it happens to you.

Yeah I can't get to upset. I've had good luck for the most part. I knew something was wrong when I heard the rattle in the box as I picked it up. Guess it was bound to happen eventually. Upside is at least they delivered it on time. Lol.

Unfortunately; These things do happen. I've found that it's not 'The Mailman' that's at fault. It's the 'Automated Machinery' that seems to cause damage.
Just this last year a friend and member here had a 5/8 Ralf Aust that he wanted me to give to someone who would appreciate it. Shortly afterward another friend emailed me with how his shaving was going and said that he was hinting to the beautiful bride that he'd like an Aust for Christmas.
I told him that I had one to give away but I'd only send it if he promised that he wouldn't peek. He couldn't believe that it would be N/C not even shipping.
Anyway I packaged it well in bubble wrap and with bubble wrap for filling the spaces and sent it in the USPS Small Priority Box.
Three days later I got an email with an attachment. The box had been damaged. From the picture there was no way in hell that the damage could have been done other through the processing. I told him that the razor should be fine just to let me know after Christmas so if it was damaged we could file a claim.
The razor was fine, the shave was great and the friendship was strengthened.

The real question is how was it packed? When I mail something like that I wrap it in several layers of bubble wrap and put it in an oversized box with styrofoam or similar. A Gorilla couldn't break it no matter how hard he tried. You have to pack expecting the worse.

Thanked: 220It's amazing that anything arrives intact with the way things are handled. (At least in Canada, anyway.) Kinda' like luggage on a plane, I've saw it being loaded & unloaded from the plane, and you just cringe sometimes! You never know the journey some of this stuff takes. I always get insurance on my mail.
