Twinplex
I had always wondered if this thing really works or if it was just a gimmick.well today I seen one while i was antiquing and decided to pick it up. so I got home picked out a new razor blade and sharpied the bevel of the blade. Threw it on the twinplex and tried. 20 seconds later, i looked at the bevel of the blade. It was shiny and brand new. It has to work. That's how i check my straight razor bevel. If marker goes away on hone bevel is set

I don't know how true this is but I read that modern blades are coated and it's the coating that provides the pleasant edge, so this device may not work too well on modern blades. I would be interested to hear how blades that have been through this machine shave.

ditto on what ed said. I feel that the modern uncoated DE blade will be dull as can be and the work needed to bring it to a useable state could be spent elsewhere .

Maybe instead of dulling the blade deliberately just twinplex a blade after each use and see if you can extend the usable life. If you have blades that you are familiar with you can say with reasonable confidence that you can get X number of shaves out of one so if a twinplexed blade provides significantly more shaves then it is worthwhile.

I have one as a curiosity only. You have the model with the removable window. Look inside. There should be nice leather on the wheels. Soft and as a nice razor strop. Look at what is there.......Hard, crusty leather from the 40's.
Will do more harm than good. When they were NEW and blades were carbon, may have helped make a blade last a bit longer. Now? JMO"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
