I use Barricade, it's the best rust preventative I have found. I can't stand the smell of Ballistol.

It’s an acquired taste, it will fill a shop but does not last long, grew up with the scent of No. 9, always brings back great memories…
I've been using castor oil as well.
I think castor oil can go on just about anything.
Petroleum or mineral oils are fine, avoid plant or vegetable based oils as they will in time become rancid/gummy.
I use baby oil.
Its just scented mineral oil
I use WD40 to displace moisture that can damage the metal. I don't really see the need for a lubricant, though. I like the gun oil and Hoppe's #9 ideas since they are meant to protect metal from harmful stuff like moisture and acidic skin oils, etc. Good ideas!
I'm new to straights, but have gun oil, Camilla oil, baby oil. I just think the baby oil is perfect.
