Hey Gents, I am looking for something I might not have or something to acquire here is what I have, 2- straights, strop, brush, mug, 3 DE's. I don't know what I am looking for or why but I am looking to treat myself to something. Any suggestions on something nice to add to my collection, maybe it is not a necessity just nice to have. Thanks ahead of time ;D
You, sir, have Undefined Addiction Disorder or UAD. Very, very rare in the shaving field. Most shavers systematically, and by nature, work through all the specific Addictions: razors, brushes, mugs or scuttles, strops, stones and soaps/creams, AS balms or colognes. To a lesser degree, DE blades, SE blades and any assorted variety of odd Addictions (old honing devices for vintage DE/SE blades.)
With extreme caution I would suggest you investigate the never ending world of soaps and creams after first setting a spending limit on yourself. There are, these days, literally hundreds of soaps and scents available. Proceed with caution.
I understand that this maybe something odd but I look at different items all the time. I have found neat old stropping/ sharpening devices and such but can never seem to pull the trigger and buy them. I have a strop that works perfectly so I can not bring myself to buy another even a different one. The mug I have I only use to soak my brush in while I shower getting it ready for lathering. The 3 soaps I have are in tubs so I really can not bring myself to buy a scuttle. Maybe soaps is the way to go, surely I can order and receive those without my wife noticing...
Good luck on your wife not noticing. They have a sixth sense that tells them that the package does not contain shoes or kitchen gadgets (or that over hyped rare cream that removes wrinkles, pounds and years.)
One trick used by pipe smokers and SR users is to purchase items that ALL have the same shape and color.
While this may somewhat limit your acquisition disorder the SWMBO may stay none the wiser.
Having said that, be aware they always figure out what you are doing.

I have been using this to put preshave oil. No oily hands.
I think one of the coolest things to have multiples of is high end shaving brushes. You hear about Simpson Super and Manchurian, Plisson HMW, Rooney Finest, Thater 2 band and wonder what the fuss is about. Get different brands with maybe different style handles, lofts, knot diameters, and you'll find out what the fuss is about, and also determine what your preferences really are in a brush. With brushes you don't know till you try.

JimmyHAD, I have been looking at brushes when I bought my gear from SRD I ordered a Beaufort Simpson brush and really like it and I have considered trying a different brush. There are so many to choose from, I have several in my cart and then I delete one and add another. It is like when I get to buy a new gun I always have like 10 I want then I have to choose and that sucks.Quote:

Lol yes I have 2 straights and now 3 DE. I am always looking and as tcrideshd suggested I am always looking at custom ones. As far as in the wild I have not found any that are not honed out junk but I look when ever I am out and about. But a custom one I think about it just can not afford that just yet. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I am thinking a new brush or scuttle might be coming my way as soon as I decide which I want more.Quote:

A little scoop for putting cream in a bowl...You could make 1 if you had an anvil and a forge :<0)
Snurdler = Any small spoon, spatula, palette knife, scraping tool, flat stick or, in a pinch the tip of your finger. Used to deposit a small amount of what have you in a receptacle for further processing.
Example: I snurdlered, with my bone carved scoop, a portion of gelato for further embellishment in my eating scuttle.

I hadn't told her that I was going to treat myself to anything and she went while I was sleeping and got me this stuff at AOS today. Sandalwood scent shave soap, shave oil, AS balm and a Muhle soap bowl. That was awesome to wake up to tonight before work :D Now first thing in the morning after work we try it out! Have a good one fellas
How about some miscellaneous shaving equipment, like a brush stand, or razor pouch/box?

'Learning every day' I had to look up snurdler and first found this from Urban Dictionary: snurdler

Refusing to believe that those little cheese knives had anything to do with farting I dug deeper....and there it was....way way out there. How posh...it's kind of like the Victorian version of SRP asked the question: I need something else to buy for my shaving ritual...what could it be? I guess I'd better make one up!

What type of light do you have in your bath?
If incandescent, you can greatly increase the light by using 100watt equivalent florescent bulbs. The cork screw type are very bright.
They are a series of regular incandescent that you see along the top of the mirror in an apartment. They are clear bulbs and probably 40 watts each. That's as high a wattage as the landlord installs.
Thanks I will look into what you suggest. I think I might still pursue that mirror idea because of the low back pain from leaning over to get closer (nearsighted), that way I can sit in a chair.

My lower back gets angry too, I like my face almost on the mirror to catch individual hairs around my facial hair. Yea, I'm a little OCD about trimming it up....
I found 40 watt LED bulbs at a Large home store. They were on special at ~$12 a 4 pack. So two packs and I can get a tan while I shave! Not quite but a great wake up in the winter. Nice for shave pics also.Quote:
