yep, me too. It's not lighted but sure helps to see what i've missed. kind of like looking at an edge under 400x though, can see things that don't really matter.

I tried one in a hotel that had it mounted on the vanity and it was actually pretty nice to have. I've considered getting one but I tend to spend a lot of time looking up my nose and wondering where the hell all those hairs came from!!

Thanked: 3215Along the same line, (getting old… er) I picked up a pair of magnifying reading glasses for detailed razor work, man they work great for detail work. Think they are 3.50.
Read the tip on an auto detailing forum. They are light and inexpensive, combined with a good strong flexible halogen light, and saves a lot of loupe time.

I had looked into an additional mirror in the shave den. Not magnified but one of those old timey deals that extend out from the wall for use, and retract when you're done. The ones on amazon were cheesy with poor reviews except for this one. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002G9TUOU/...L13Y6U43&psc=1. Thing is I hate to spend the $.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 3215Ikea sell one of the extendable mirrors for about $25, not magnified and you can buy the lighted magnified desktop mirror for about 30, Costco or Sam’s was carrying them a while back.
The light bulbs are a bit pricy, but last a few years.

Ouch! "Hate to spend the money..." is right!! In my shave den, the combination of countertop depth & where the light is installed in the ceiling was the driving force for me to find an extending mirror.
Between online & local retailers, the lighted ones (that are even arguably worth considering) start at around $40. I got a non-lighted, square model for roughly $18 at the local Menards hardware store. One side, IIRC, is 5x or 6x magnification; the other is flat.
I think this is the model I got...

Magnification or not, having a mirror roughly standing height, as close as I want, w/o needing extra arms to try to hold it helps quite a bit with thoroughness passes & the neck. It can cause problems if I try to use it whilst shaving my sideburns. Thanks to not having eyes like a gecko, and physics, I have to rely on my 20/13 vision & the normal mirror flat on the wall behind the sink so I don't cut where my ear & jaw meet. Distance changes the angle of attack when working with reflections.
I'm not sure that last sentence made sense. I do know that I can see a wider cross section of my sideburns when I use the mirror that is further away.

Goodwill. Goodwill. Goodwill. My first stop for anything I need. Found an extending mirror (round with second side about a 5-6 mag) for, I hate to say it, $4.00. Didn't find it first time around but it only took a few visits to nail it. Goodwill re stocks daily and surprises happen often. If you are lucky on color tag day you get 50% off. Senior day, if it applies, 10% off.
