I remember a black barber on Ripley's BION that cut hair with fire, but I had never heard of hair singeing as a way to get rid of split ends.
I guess if it works for rope, it works for hair.
Just be careful if you decide to start playing barber and try to use that singeing stuff!

I remember these when I was a kid (boy does that make me sound old). But back in the 70's, the barbar put these on us before the haircut.

Great family heirlooms, wouldn't part with any of it.
Like Jerry said, put it in a display case for all your family and friends to see, + us of course.
Keep in mind they had styptic powder back then!

the silver thing in the foreground is a clip used to secure the 2 ends of the " cape " that the barber wraps around you to help keep hair from getting in your clothes .

That collection takes me back. The only thing missing might be the electric head massager the barber would put on his hand. I used to go to an Italian barber named Joe who always finished with that. He’d say, “You’re done and can go now.” But, I was in such a relaxed state by then, I really couldn’t.

Great memorabilia. Congratulations on an amazing inheritance.

The Paper you sended me with your last mail inculdes nothing shaving related, its an ad for using
starch for collars and cuffs, a typical 1950s/early 60s german design.

    Translation left side:

If often washed Collars and shirt are prepared with

    EternaForm

they look so elegant and impressing as if beeing fresh from the counter.

    EternaForm

the Cloth-Starch in the collapsible tube is easy to use. By the way, you can use it also
for curtains, tableclothes, lace blouses for short, you can use it for nearly every kind of laundry.

    Ask for
    EternaForm
    in you specialized textile store.

    Eterna
    Male Laundry Factory
Corporation, Passau (a city in west germany)

    Translation right side:
From the good things you never have too much,
    it also raises your self-esteem.

I hope this is of some help.
